★★★★★“We visited with high expectations but unfortunately left feeling disappointed. The atmosphere and service were pleasant, and we appreciated the thoughtful gesture of the keychain holder with my name. However, the food did not meet the same standard. As people who genuinely enjoy Japanese cuisine, it was disheartening to find the dishes lacking in flavour, with portions that felt small relative to the price. Given that this was a special Valentine’s Day outing after saving up, the experience was particularly disappointing and left us feeling let down. While the staff and setting were lovely, the overall food quality did not match our expectations, and based on our experience, we would not recommend visiting.”
★★★★★“My partner and I spotted this wonderful place while touring Edinburgh. The first thing that caught our eye was the lovely display in the window and then the menu. When we decided to go inside we were greeted by a lovely woman who showed us to our seats and gave us a very polite service. We ordered our food, all of it was delicious and I cannot flaw the customer service. The inside of the shop is gorgeous and really worth a visit. The food was perfect. I would love to come again.”
★★★★★“Sushiya is a genuine Japanese restaurant that really stands out for its authenticity and care. The atmosphere is quiet and cosy, making it a lovely place to enjoy proper Japanese food. I especially loved the Cinderella non-alcoholic drink – refreshing, beautifully balanced, and a nice option if you don’t drink alcohol. The fish balls were comforting and full of flavour, and the tempura was light, crisp, and not oily at all. For dessert, the Doraemon ice cream was fun and brought a smile, while the mocha ice cream had a rich, smooth taste. The mochi was soft and fresh, a perfect way to finish the meal. Everything tasted carefully prepared, and you can tell this is a place that respects real Japanese food. A hidden gem in Edinburgh – simple, honest, and delicious. I will definitely come back. (Finally I ordered two Cinderella 😄 )”
