“Seven years shopping at Findlays and never been disappointed. The range and variety of meat and sausages is fantastic, the quality is always excellent And the service is great. It’s worth paying more for the quality, if you can. My particular favourites are the bags of venison for stewing, the Ayrshire bacon, hand of lamb, and the vast selection of sausages (many are gluten free too). “I have recently moved to Portobello and have had wonderful experiences with many local businesses with my dogs. Today I tried to visit Findlays of Portobello for some items for Hogmanay. I couldn't see any info barring dogs so I stayed in the queue (one small dog was in my arms as he just got out of the hospital and can't walk and the other was on a lead and both were quiet and well behaved). When I entered the store a butcher barked out at me "no dogs allowed". I have no problem with dogs not being welcome, but there was no reason to shout out at me in front of all the other customers. I was so taken aback by his ugly greeting that I blurted out could I get a brisket? This precipitated further scowling from him. I had enough. I left immediately. I would have loved to have tried their highly recommended butchery, but if I wanted to be shouted at publicly like this, I would have stayed married to my ex-husband. This butcher doesn't need to worry, I won't be returning with or without my dogs. I will take my money elsewhere.”
