★★★★★“I had fractional laser CO2 treatment and it has been the worse experience of my life. I have PTSD, anxiety permanent scarring and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Before the procedure no patch test was carried out which apparently is a legal requirement and no potential risks were explained. I have a darker skin type which means I am at more risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation which wasn’t explained to me. I was not asked to sign any consent form and the after care was non existent !! I was told the downtime was five days which is incorrect, it has been nearly three weeks and my skin is still recovering. If the risks were explained I would never have had the procedure done!!. I visited out of hours three days after the procedure because I was in severe pain and worried I had an infection. Luckily I did not have an infection but was prescribed strong painkillers to help with the pain. 6-7 days after the procedure, I was beginning to panic and had a lot of concerns and asked the beauty consultant to see me. She agreed but this should not have even been something I asked for. This is a prerequisite after such an invasive proecudure!! This would in fact allow the beauty consultant to assess the client’s recovery. !! At this point, my skin was very pink, raw, irritated and sore. When I went to see the beauty consultant she fobbed me off and said it’s part of the process. She then asked me to give her a good review on Google which I agreed to because I was scared if I didint she would not agree to see me if my skin did not heal. As soon as I got home, I realised that I cannot morally give this person a good review as I dont trust her and don’t want another human being enduring what I did. I changed the review and then she messaged me saying ‘ I am a horrible and vile person and she will get rid of the review’ . That was extremely unprofessional and rude!! How can I give someone a good review when they have messed my face up. Over the next few days I developed post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and subsequently went to see medical professionals who specialise in aesthetics, laser treatment and skin dermatology. They were shocked that this treatment was carried out on my skin type. I was in fact told this procedure should have never had been done on me. I was also told the wrong settings were used!! I was prescribed a topical ointment to help with the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and was told that it can take a minimum of 3-6 months to get rid of the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The nurse at the clinic I am attending has been checking up on me regularly, she told me she couldn’t stop thinking about me because of the way I was dealt with from beginning to end. I have cried myself to sleep every night since I have had this procedure, I don’t want anyone to go through what I am going through. It has taken a significant toll on my self of esteem and mental health. I will be escalating this issue further!!. I wouldn’t have even given this person a one star review but unfortunately that was the only option I had, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to write a review, and I want to make sure others don’t make the same mistake by using this person’s services!!”
★★★★★“My experience is not the best with Amie. She asked for extra deposit of £150 for each session instead of £50. When I can't continue my fat dissolving injection because I am on medications and steroids for another infection, she tried hardselling by saying that I need more than one session to see any results and insist on holding my deposit. Even though I am fine with a refund of my deposit, she suddenly said that deposits are non-refundable and she can give me 50% back because I am also leaving the country. This is quite bad as I gave her >4days headsup when I am unwell and I didn't forsee having a prolonged infection.”
★★★★★“Avoid. As mentioned in the previous review, I had a very similar experience with this person/Skin N Tonic. Extremely unprofessional and showing little care for the intensity of the work being carried out on clients. I had the CO₂ fractional laser treatment, and none of the risks were explained to me. I wasn’t asked to sign a consent form, no patch test was done, and she even tried to book me in for the same hour I made the enquiry. It seems to be a pattern that the invasive nature of the treatment is not properly outlined to avoid deterring clients. Aftercare was minimal. I experienced significant discomfort and distress during the healing process, which came as a shock. I was advised that drinking alcohol afterwards was fine, which I have since learned is incorrect and could negatively impact recovery. I was not provided with the recommended cream, only a screenshot of aftercare guidelines which referenced products I did not receive. When I later arranged to collect the cream in person, she did not turn up. When I tried to raise my concerns, I was met with an unprofessional and dismissive response. This was a personal scar removal treatment, so to see her respond to another reviewer saying she needs to “evaluate clients’ mental health and stability” is frankly quite concerning and inappropriate. If you would like to blame this review on my mental health too please go ahead, but I would also take some time to re-evaluate the lack of care in your work. This feedback is not shared lightly as I would never leave a negative review for a small business. However, I felt it was important to share my experience so that others can make fully informed decisions before booking.”
